It just keeps getting better and better in the South Okanagan! First came the news that Mount Baldy will be opening for the remainder of the ski season, and now the Osoyoos Indian Band and Area 27 have announced that they have completed the designation process for the latest area attraction, Area 27 Motorsports Country Club. Every day, it seems like there are more things to do in the South Okanagan!
Area 27 will feature a world-class racing circuit, designed by Jacques Villeneuve. Villeneuve is a Canadian racing legend, having won the 1995 CART Championship, the 1995 Indianapolis 500 and the 1997 Formula One World Championship. At the time, he was only the third race car driver to achieve such a feat and no other Canadian has won the Indy 500 or the F1 Drivers’ title. Using his incredible experience driving some of the world’s best tracks, Villeneuve has designed the Area 27 circuit to be challenging and rewarding for drivers of all skill levels.
The Driving Academy will give drivers an opportunity for one-on-one coaching, helping them to push their own limits and improve their circuit time. For those who are looking for some wheel-to-wheel racing, the Area 27 Karting Centre is the perfect fit.
Area 27 is designed to be a country club for the driving enthusiast, so it stands to reason that the facility will offer luxurious amenities on site. The Members Clubhouse is slated to include a restaurant, private lounge, locker rooms, a classroom, day spa, and a pro shop.
The 227-acre site has received final approval for a period of 110 years, so Area 27 is sure to be an important part of the South Okanagan tourism and activity landscape for decades to come.
