Learn & Experience History At The Nk’mip Desert Cultural Center

Experience the desert like never before at the Nk’mip Desert Cultural Center. The self-guided exhibitions walk visitors through two multi-sensory theatres that share the rich history of the Syilx people of the Okanagan Nation and the epic legend of Sen’klip, (the Coyote).

Immersive displays that showcase local desert wildlife, artifacts and more are found inside the sustainably designed building. Architects and designers combined their knowledge of sustainable design practices and traditional building methods to create this beautiful, environmentally sound structure for visitors to enjoy for many years to come.

In the summer months, visitors can enjoy touring the Nk’mip nature trails and try their hand at rappelling in the desert.

Marvel & Wonder At The Desert Model Railroad

All Aboard! We’re heading over to the Desert Model Railroad to be wowed by intricately planned and executed model train cityscapes. Known as Canada’s largest Marklin lay-out, 45 impressive computer-controlled trains run through very detailed landscaping and European-style towns with immersive interactive activities included throughout the layouts. Is the resort currently at risk from the fires?

No, thanks to the local and visiting firefighters’ incredible bravery and hard work, Watermark Beach Resort is currently not at risk from the fires. We are working closely to monitor the wildfire situation with local authorities and will keep our guests updated with any news regarding evacuations as soon as it becomes available

Is it safe to swim at the lake with the wildfire smoke?

Currently, it is perfectly safe to spend your days swimming in Osoyoos Lake, however, we recommend guests check out the BC Air Quality Index to ensure their own safety prior to hitting the beach.
