The 15 Park Bistro wine list of 2024 showcase the rich variety and exceptional quality of Okanagan wines, offering delightful experiences for all wine enthusiasts. The wine list was compiled over a period of six weeks in March and April. Watermark’s sommeliers sat down with dozens of winery partners in the South Okanagan to select the perfect mixture of wines.
The spring wine picks include crisp, fresh wines with balanced acidity, such as Rosé, Sauvignon Blanc, and Viognier, that complement the warmer weather and diverse spring dishes. Local varietals and reputable winemakers are prioritized to showcase the region’s terroir. Exclusive blends and limited editions are included, while wines with vibrant fruit and floral notes that offer complexity without being overwhelming is favoured.
Watermark’s Spring Wine Picks For May
Exceptional Blends and the Essence of Spanish Wines
Our exploration of Okanagan wines continue as we venture off the beaten path with unique varietals rarely seen in the valley. From robust blends to elegant Spanish selections, our spring picks showcase the diverse and exceptional craftsmanship of our local winemakers, promising delightful discoveries for every palate.
2021 Stoneboat Vineyards Pinotage & Petit Verdot
A brand new edition, exclusive to the 15 Park wine list, is the new 2021 Pinotage & Petit Verdot blend recently released from Stoneboat Vineyards. Both of these grapes are big reds with Pinotage being a cross of Cinsault and Pinot Noir and the Petit Verdot being a dense, powerful flavoured grape, you would not think these would go well together, but they do and what a pleasant surprise it was. This wine has a great mix of spices like white pepper, vanilla and anise but mixed with a heavy black current juicy flavour. Enjoy this unique wine with a good piece of meat.
2022 Moon Curser Tempranillo
Moving over to Spanish varietals, we also have recently discovered the 2022 Moon Curser Tempranillo, a varietal originally known to be from Spain. While the vintage is only from 2022, the tannins have already softened out and it has left a big amount of cherry fruit flavours in the wine with a touch of fig flavours and tobacco which is typical of this varietal. Moon Curser has done very well at making this varietal, most well known from the Rioja region, a tasty addition to the Okanagan and our wine list.
Watermark’s Spring Wine Picks For April
From An Exciting & Unique Rosé To A Perfectly Balanced Chardonnay
April brings us the crisp Apricus Cellars Rosé and the balanced Nostalgia Family Collection Chardonnay, perfect for patio days.
Apricus Cellars Rosé
One wine we are excited to introduce in April is the Apricus Cellars Rosé. Located in the District Wine Village, winemaker Aaron Crey, has come up with a very exciting blend of Tempranillo and Malbec for this wine. Its profile is very crisp, very dark and very raspberry forward with a bit of melon. These varietals, which are not often used to make Rosé, blend wonderfully and create a unique wine. Guests will be able to select this wine by the glass on our lovely outdoor patio this season.
Nostalgia Family Collection 2021 Chardonnay
Another wine we’re also excited to feature is the Nostalgia Family Collection 2021 Chardonnay . Our team experienced it for the first time when creating the food for our Nostalgia dinner during our Winemaker Dinner Series last fall. This beautifully balanced Chardonnay, with just the right amount of oak, has great flavours of peach, pear and apple. The culinary team have put together a Portuguese-inspired Salt Cod Bechamel Rissoles (or fish cakes), which paired excellently with the vintage.
We knew we needed to share this gem with our guests, and are incredibly proud to have it on our wine list for this season.
Watermark Spring Wine Picks For March
Crisp South Okanagan Wines For Warmer Days
Spring is the perfect time to explore Osoyoos wines that present crisp flavours and pair perfectly with the long sunny days to come.
Lariana Cellars 2022 Viognier
A wine that is very well known at 15 Park Bistro and in the Okanagan is the Lariana Viognier. Simply ask locals in the valley about their favourite Viognier, Lariana is usually the answer.
Viognier is a grape that is more commonly grown in the Rhone Valley of France and blended with other varietals, but in the Okanagan, it has gained huge popularity as a single varietal grape.
The 2022 vintage, which may be the last vintage for quite some time, has peach, apricot and melon flavours with a very crisp finish. The wine has a beautiful golden colour and, like most Viognier, is a versatile food wine. While it is sold out at the winery, we still have this vintage available at 15 Park Bistro.
Hermit Wine 2020 RMX
While we’re talking Rhone varietals, the RMX by Hermit Wine is very much worth mentioning. This is an unusual blend with Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre that you would typically find in a Rhone blend, but also includes Malbec and a smidge of Viognier, making this a very unique and delicious wine.
Hermit Wine is a very small producer, owned by a long time wine educator in the valley, Ingo Grady. This is a fun wine with big cherry notes, soft pepper flavours and very soft tannins mid palate and during the long finish. This wine goes very well with the Pork Loin on 15 Park’s menu.
