What To Do in Osoyoos in Winter

Welcome to Winter in Osoyoos!

Living in Osoyoos means enjoying Canada’s warmest winter year after year. When the temperatures dip and the occasional frost covers the ground, we look to activities such as skiing, winter winery tours, and more. If you’re staying with us this season, be sure to check out our favourite ways to enjoy the fresh, fantastic beauty of winter!

Hit The Slopes

Baldy Mountain Resort is a great place to spend the day skiing, snowboarding, or snowshoeing. The resort is one of the highest ski elevations in Canada, with a summit of 2,310m and a ski lift that services up to 2,123m.

At the resort, you can try downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, even disc golf! Enjoy a restorative meal at the Baldy Bar & Lounge, or come back to Watermark and pair your meal with a glass of award-winning local wine at 15 Park Bistro.

If you love cross-country skiing, consider McKinney Nordic Ski Club. The club maintains over 9 km of groomed cross-country ski trails, as well as snowshoe trails, among BC’s beautiful mountains. Trail use is by donation. Don’t forget to snap a selfie!

A Wine Country Winter

Many of the local wineries remain open during the winter. The vineyards are beautiful with their light dusting of frost or snow, and you can often find a quieter atmosphere and receive personalized attention during your winery visit. Many local wineries participate in the Festival of Trees or other winter celebrations. Contact the winery before visiting to ensure they are open and to verify their safe visiting policies.

Plan your own day trip, or do what we do and contact one of our preferred tour operators. A professional tour company can give you so much detail and information about local wineries, and you don’t have to worry about who’s driving!

Warm Up with Local Flavours

When you think of eating local, summer months full of bountiful produce come to mind. But many local provisioners and farmers work year-round to bring delicious tastes to you. 15 Park Bistro takes pride in working with as much local fare as they can in the winter, whether it be local breadmakers, artisan honey, or pickles & preserves. Enjoy hearty meals that suit the season, concocted by the brilliant minds in our kitchen.

The Osoyoos Market on Main artisan and farmers market moves indoors during the winter. Browse the stalls to find local preserves, provisions, and tasty treats. Check the website or Facebook page beforehand to verify safety precautions and confirm hours of operation.

Replenish Mind & Body

The start of the year is a great time to renew and replenish both your mind and body. The Levia Wellness Spa offers many different treatments to help you look and feel your best. Using botanicals and minerals to customize your treatment, Levia becomes a welcoming oasis in the midst of winter.

Warm up spiritually and literally with a trip to the hot tub or steam room. Watermark’s hot tub is open year round, and our relaxing steam room is the perfect way to unwind after a day of skiing, strolling, or skating. Soothe your muscles and restore yourself with a session in our fitness centre.

As you can see, winter brings with it the opportunity for both adventurous and relaxing activities. To book your dream Osoyoos winter vacation, contact us at 1.888.755.3480 and get ready for a season of fun!
