Living Life to the Fullest on Osoyoos Lake
One of the biggest draws to living in Osoyoos is the sparkling, inviting waters of Osoyoos Lake. For as far as the eye can see this stunning body of water stretches far along the shorelines of pristine beaches, rolling vineyards and expansive mountain views that iconically make up our South Okanagan home. And while there’s lots to do on land like winery tours and golf, the lake offers a wide range of refreshing activities. People travel from all around Canada to experience the warmest lake in the country and we don’t blame them! We’ve rounded up a list of things to do out on the water, for all ranges of adventures and activity levels. It’s going to be a “Lake Day, Every Day” kind of summer!
Be a Beach Bum
We know this is obvious, but with our fine sand beaches and ample shaded areas it’s easy to lose track of time and just enjoy basking in the sunshine with your toes in the sand. Bring a good book, pack a picnic, take a dip. There are no worries when you’re sitting in the sand, drink in hand, watching the waves roll in. Go wading into the lake, or jump right in. The waters warm, we promise! No matter how you choose to spend your day at the beach will surely be the relaxation you’ve been dreaming of, just don’t forget to pack the sunscreen!

Water Safety Tips
We know how easy it is to get carried away when you’re having too much fun, but it’s important to review and maintain good safety practices, especially when spending time in or close to the water. We’ve included 5 important safety measures to keep you and your family safe.
- Always use a lifejacket while operating any type of watercraft.
- If you are swimming in a new area, always enter the water feet first and be aware of your surroundings at all times. If you can’t see the bottom of the lake, refrain from diving or jumping in until no hidden obstructions are detected or is confirmed to be a safe distance from the bottom to do so.
- Water quality, visibility, and weather conditions can change in a moment's notice so stay observant and get away from the water if a storm or lightning becomes visible.
- Always have a designated driver available for days spent boating and never operate watercraft under any influence. If everyone is planning on participating in the activities, hire a charter to take you around the lake safely and enjoy the views.
- Maybe a bit of an obvious one, but never swim alone and never leave children unsupervised near open water. Even confident swimmers can suddenly fall into dangerous situations. Always have someone watching the water without any distractions including books, phones and other adults. It can be helpful to have alternating people watching the water in shifts so there is always someone present during bathroom breaks and resting
No matter how you choose to enjoy Osoyoos Lake, just be sure to stay safe!
