Our Eco-Friendly Commitment

Our Pledge to You

With the beautiful natural splendor of the South Okanagan all around, it feels more important than ever to be eco-friendly. That’s why our commitment to maintaining the highest level of care for both our guests and the local environment is taken to heart! Watermark Beach Resort is proud to be a 3 Green Key Rated hotel with the Hotel Association of Canada and want to extend our gratitude to our guests who helped make this happen. Together, we can preserve the expansive beauty of Osoyoos and create a greener future for all!

Green Hotel

Watermark Beach Resort is committed to reducing our impact on the local environment and follows a Green Program that reduces our impact on the local area and protects the planet for future generations. Our Green Program is founded upon three principles: Leadership, Neutrality, and Progression. At Watermark Beach Resort we are also a member of the ecobase Certified program. This program is a 3rd party program that holds Watermark Beach Resort accountable to measure and reduce our carbon footprint. To remain carbon neutral, we practice different ways to reduce our use of energy, water and fuels by providing our guests and staff with the following eco-friendly strategies

  • Save Energy

Save energy when using the heat or AC by ensuring all windows and balcony doors are closed tightly. Or, if it’s a nice day outside, keep the windows open and shut off the AC to limit energy usage and breathe in the fresh Okanagan air.

  • Utilizing Your Rooms

Utilize your rooms multiple windows and let in the natural sunlight to warm and brighten up your room instead of using multiple light sources. As the days get longer, enjoy taking in the sunset as it dips behind the lake

  • Recycling

We love it when our guests make themselves right at home and enjoy a good meal and bottle of wine while staying with us. We made sure to provide a recycling bin in each room to make it easy for disposing glass and metals and reducing landfill waste.

  • Water Waste

Double check that all sinks and faucets are turned off to prevent water waste.

  • Cool Air

In the summer months we know you’ll be out enjoying the balmy Osoyoos weather. Keep your room cool by drawing the blinds and curtains and turning off all lights. After a long day of fun in the sun your cool and quiet room will be a welcome sight!

Eco-friendly Amenities

Part of our commitment to maintaining our green certification is to ensure we pay attention to the little details while providing consistent, high quality hospitality to all of our guests and visitors.

Watermark Beach Resort is a big supporter of local businesses and has partnered up with Natural Concepts, a West-Kelowna based toiletry company that focuses on creating environmentally sustainable and natural products. Every Watermark bathroom is thoughtfully stocked with bath products and handcrafted soaps that you can feel good about using.

In addition to our in-room amenities, we also provide our guests access to electric vehicle charging stations making Watermark Beach Resort a leader in the electric vehicle initiative. Located in our underground parking garage, we have three, free to use stations available for guest use.

Health and Safety

In addition to our eco-friendly focus, we also prioritize our guests’ health and comfort. We leave fresh linens and supplies outside guest rooms when requested to minimize contact. We also clean and sanitize each room after guest departure with products recommended by government health authorities. Read more about our health and safety measures to prioritize your well-being.
