sw̓iw̓s Park Wetlands Trail
In just a five-minute drive you will find the 2 km trail at sw̓iw̓s Park (formerly Haynes Point), which can be completed in about 30 to 45 minutes, making it a perfect early-morning or evening walk. The name sw̓iw̓s, given by the Osoyoos Indian Band, means “a place where it is shallow or narrow in the middle of the lake,” reflecting its historical role as a crossing point for Indigenous communities. Today, the park is still overseen in partnership with the Osoyoos Indian Band. Shaded sections and lake breezes make this a comfortable hike, while its wetlands are a haven for birdwatchers hoping to spot herons and other native species.
