Watermark Wine Picks – September 2023

As the summer comes to an end and we get into the fall season, we start moving away from the fruity, light crisp wines and start thinking about wines with more body and that go well with big gathering meals among friends and family. Oaked Chardonnays are wines that become very popular with some of those big memorable meals and some of the dining features you will see here at the resort.

Nighthawk Vineyards 2021 Chardonnary

Nighthawk Vineyards 2021 Chardonnay is a great example of excellent south Okanagan Chardonnay and is already sold out at the winery for the season.

Apple and Butterscotch flavours on this wine that is barrel fermented with French Oak creating a long finish that pairs well with so much on our menu.

Nighthawk Vineyards is a true family business with members of the household functioning as the farmers, wine maker and the executive chef of their onsite restaurant. This winery in Okanagan falls is certainly worth the visit.

Meyer Family Vineyards Pinot

Also pairing well with root vegetables and the fall harvest is Pinot Noir.  Meyer Family Vineyards, also from Okanagan Falls, has many great examples of Pinot Noir made in a variety of styles from different vineyards in their portfolio.

We are fortunate enough to have a few of their Pinot Noir on our menu, but are especially proud of the 2020 Meyer Family McLean Creek Road Pinot Noir, which was originally only available to wine club members due to the low production of this wine.

The wine is unfined and unfiltered and has soft tannins.  This is a juicy pinot with flavours of plum and blackberry rather than a heavily earthy style Pinot Noir.  Unfortunately you can’t buy this vintage at the winery but we still have lots left here at 15 Park from our cellar.

The scents, the flavours and the very soul of the wine country await you at our Osoyoos hotel. Watermark’s curated picks are but a taste of the extraordinary experiences we have in store.
