About Devour! The Food Film Fest

The festival was created by Chef Michael Howell in Nova Scotia as a celebration of film, food and wine culture. It is a licensed Not-For-Profit event. In 2016 it made its first cross-country stopover in Okanagan wine country at Watermark Beach Resort.

Now in its 3rd year, Devour! is poised to share the South Okanagan’s and Similkameen Valley’s spectacular food and wine scene, offering guests the opportunity to enjoy creative food and drink selections from celebrated local and visiting culinary talent.

Chowder Smackdown

Cross Canada Competition of Canadian Chowder Making. 6 guest Chefs from Nova Scotia, BC and Alberta showcasing their best Chowders. Who will reign supreme according to a panel of distinguished judges? Local Cideries, Breweries, Distillers will be on hand. Also enjoy Oyster Shucking.

Best Varietals of the Similkameen 1:30pm – 2:30pm
Join winemakers and owners from 4 Similkameen wineries for a lively discussion on what varietals work best in the Similkameen Valley. Winemakers will present their case and share award winning wines that back up their claims. This is your chance to taste the best of the Similkameen!

The Micro-Terroirs of the Similkameen Valley 2:30pm – 3:30pm
The grape growing part of the Similkameen Valley is only 28 km long but within this small stretch is a number of very diverse and distinct micro-terroirs. Soils, sunshine and wind are just a few of the considerations when planting grapes and choosing a style of wine that best expresses each particular area in the Similkameen. Learn from those who understand these complexities the best, as 4 principles of Similkameen Valley wineries share wines that showcase the valley’s diversity. Taste our micro-terroirs!

Ciders and Fruit Wines of the Similkameen 3:30pm – 4:30pm
Long before grapes were grown in the Similkameen, the valley was known for its amazing soft and hard fruit production. This masterclass will focus on the world-class organic fruit wines and ciders produced. Three Similkameen producers will lead you through a top selection of their award-winning fruit wines and ciders that express the Similkameen. Expand your drinking universe and taste the varied flavours and styles created from various Similkameen fruits.


Saturday Evening Gala

Location: The Beach
6:00pm – 10:00pm $85.00 + Tax and Gratuity

A series of short food films, with guest Chefs and wine pairings. Each short food film will inspire a Celebrity Guest Chef to create a course from the inspiration taken from the film. Food and film will be perfectly paired with Similkameen wines. The Similkameen Independent Winegrowers and Chefs will be there tableside during their course.
